A 51-year-old woman has been charged with killing her 82-year-old mother in the home they shared in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood.
Janette Glenn is charged with first degree murder in the death of her mother Catherine Glenn, said Tandra Simonton
Glenn along with her mother lived in the same home on the 7800 block of South Euclid Avenue. Catherine Glenn celebrated her 82nd birthday on Saturday and her body was found in a closet at the home on Mother's Day.
An autopsy determined that Catherine Glenn died of multiple blunt force injuries from an assault and ruled her death a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Catherine Glenn was last seen at her home by other family members who had visited the woman to celebrate her birthday, according to other family members. Family members were to return to Glenn's home on Sunday to celebrate Mother's Day but police discovered her body in the home.
Police found Glenn in her home, a two-story building about 7:40 a.m. Sunday..
Janette Glenn was an early suspect in what police said was a domestic-related homicide. She was arrested while walking at Rainbow Beach Park, police said. Glenn was found in a closet with signs of trauma including cuts
