Bail was denied today for a 30-year-old Monee man charged with killing an 18-year-old man last September in Chicago's Pill Hill neighborhood.
According to a Cook County assistant state's attorney in bond court, Christopher Smith, of the 25700 block of South Taft Street in Monee, was driving a stolen white Buick on Sept. 28 through an alley at 9244 S. Chappel Avenue when he rolled down the passenger-side window and fired multiple rounds into a group.
The 18-year-old man, Derrick Davis, was shot in the head, according to court documents. He died from a gunshot wound, according to the medical examiner's office.
The prosecutor said multiple witnesses from the scene positively identified Smith as the shooter. Multiple shell casings from a .40-caliber gun were found in the stolen Buick, which was found abandoned nearby a short time after the shooting
