James Romaine, 22, and a 16-year-old boy are being held on charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault and home invasion in the attack about 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Somonauk Street in Park Forest. They are expected to appear for bond hearings on Monday, according to a release from Park Forest police. The boy was expected to have his case transferred from juvenile court.
Police found the woman after someone called 911 because of a dog running loose. When officers went to the area, they found a home which appeared to have been burglarized, and while the officers were there, a woman ran up and told them she owned the home.
The woman told police she had returned home earlier in the evening and ran into a man and boy, one of them armed with a gun, in her home. The two battered and sexually assaulted the woman, then drove her away in her own car.
Her attackers drove the woman around for a while, then let her out about two blocks from her house.
After police found the woman, she was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Early Friday, police found Romaine, of the 400 block of Tomahawk Street in Park Forest, and the teen and arrested them. Charges were approved today by the state's attorney's office.
