A 14-year-old is facing juvenile charges after jumping from a stolen car in
Englewood this week and pointing a gun at police, causing them to fire shots
that did not hit anyone.
The boy was cited in a juvenile delinquency petition accusing him of
possession of a stolen motor vehicle, simple assault and aggravated fleeing.
The incident happened about 7:40 p.m. Thursday at 7100 South
Parnell Avenue when officers spotted him in a stolen vehicle. The boy fled, and officers went after him.
The boy stopped and
jumped out of the vehicle in the 1200 block of West 72nd Street, where he then
pointed a gun in the direction of officers, but did not shoot.
Officers fired shots, but no one was hit and the boy was taken
into custody a short distance away,
