A woman who told police her toddler was in her car when it was stolen this morning has been charged with making a false report.
Jeanette Holt, 25, of the 100 block of West 155th Street in Harvey made the claim to get faster response, and now is charged with felony disorderly conduct.
At about 9:38 a.m., Holt called 911 and said her vehicle had been stolen from the front of a day care center in the 400 block of East 79th Street with the keys in the ignition and her 1-year-old son in it.
Officers quickly responded and desperately searched the immediate area and adjacent districts.
But police found Holt's child safe in the day care center, and although her car had been stolen there was nobody inside. Holt said she intentionally deceived police because she wanted a faster response.
Her stolen car had not been located as of late Wednesday afternoon
