A 34-year-old West Side man was charged with first degree murder in connection with an October 2012 shooting on Central Avenue just north of Madison Street.
Ramon Words, of the 0-100 block of North Waller Avenue, is due in court Thursday. He was arrested at his home "without incident" about 7 a.m. Monday by officers from city and regional fugitive task forces.
He's accused of walking up behind 21-year-old Denzell Williams and opening fire, hitting him a number of times. Williams was walking with friends when shot.
Williams died at the scene.
Words was also charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and not having a firearm owner identification card.
