Michael Kozel, 57, was shot about 5:20 p.m. Jan. 2 in his shop, Independent Mufflers Inc., 5654 S. Western Ave., during a robbery by two men.
Two men entered the shop and asked about making a purchase, but then one of them showed a gun and demanded money. Kozel tried to flee but was shot in the back once as he tried to run away.
The two then robbed the rest of those at the shop, police said in the alert issued tonight.
An employee at his shop said the day after the robbery that Kozel was with two employees at the time of the hold-up, one of whom was robbed.
He was the fifth homicide in Chicago in the first two days of 2013, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The robbers fled the shop and went south on Western Avenue, then west onto 57th Street.
The first robber, for whom the sketch was released, was described as a black man, between the ages of 18 and 25, standing about 5-foot-6, weighing 140 pounds. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a light-blue jacket, a black stocking cap and dark denim pants, and brandishing a .45-caliber blue steel semiautomatic handgun.
The second robber also was a black man between the ages of 18 and 25, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds. Police did not release any clothing description for him.

I don't know why people are killing for money. I seen people getting robbed for 5$. Its not worth it, you can't even do anything with 5$. It will be good if they just take your money, but I believe they take both stuff away from you. Your money and your life.
