Margie McGowan, 45, of the 4600 block of South Langley Avenue, was charged with felony aggravated battery .
McGowan's 17-year-old daughter and another girl, 16, were in a bedroom of the home when McGowan began acting erratically around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
The 16-year-old later started boiling water to make noodles. She told officers that McGowan followed her to the kitchen and tried to start an argument.
As the girl went to the stove, McGowan threw the hot pot of water and noddles at her.
McGowan, who police say appeared intoxicated, told police she "isn't going to let any kids threaten her''.
The 16-year-old was taken to University of Chicago Hospitals, where she was treated for second-degree burns to her chest
