Two men were charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man on Sunday evening that resulted in a car chase on the Dan Ryan.
Yecary Harris, 30, of the 8300 block of South Anthony Avenue was charged with first-degree murder for the fatal shooting of Christopher Thomas, 28, who was pronounced dead after being shot about 5:10 p.m. on the 200 block of East 51st Street in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.
Thomas, of the 5100 block of South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. Sunday after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
Chicago police officers arrived on the scene shortly after the shooting and saw Harris and another person, later identified by police as Rodney Harris, flee in a vehicle.
Rodney Harris, 31, of the 900 block of W. 76th St., has been charged with one count of aggravated fleeing and received traffic citations for failure to stop at a stop sign and driving on a suspended license
