A 19-year-old man has been charged with the slaying of a 22-year-old man during a hold-up robbery earlier this year.
Deric Robinson, of the 2000 block of West Washington Boulevard, was charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery for the slaying of Akeem J. Morris on May 8.
Robinson is charged with the slaying of Morris, of the 4200 block of West Jackson Boulevard, who was shot around 6:30 p.m..
Morris was walking with five other people in the 4000 block of West End Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood when they were approached by three men.
One of the men pulled a handgun and announced a robbery while the two other men attempted to get cash and items from the victims.
Police believe Morris was shot in the face when he resisted. No other injuries were reported as the three robbers fled in a vehicle.
