A Bellwood man has been charged with the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man in the Austin neighborhood earlier this week.
Timmaine P. Timerlake, 29, was charged today with first-degree murder.
Police said that on Dec. 9 at about 9 a.m. Timerlake fatally shot Rene Reyna Jr., 32, on the 1000 block of South Austin Boulevard.
Police said the two men were involved in a physical altercation when Reyna broke free of Timerlake's grasp and tried to flee. At that point, Timerlake produced a gun and fatal shot him.
A day after the shooting Austin tactical officers on patrol saw a vehicle tied to the shooting and tried to pull it over. Timerlake then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
After a brief foot chase, the man was apprehended and placed under arrest. A weapon was found in the vehicle.
