About 11:30 p.m. Friday, a 24-year-old man was shot on the 6900 block of South Vernon Avenue in the city's Park Manor neighborhood by a man who asked him if he wanted to buy marijuana.
The man was walking on the street when someone approached him and asked him if he wanted to buy drugs. The victim refused, and the person pulled out a weapon. The victim was then struck as he tried to flee.
The man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County with wounds to his leg and lower back
