A 44-year-old man died after he and another man were struck by a car while
crossing the street in the West Rogers Park neighborhood
Monday evening.
The driver did not stop after the collision, which happened at about 6 p.m.
on the 6400 block of North Maplewood Avenue.
One of the men who was struck, Tsering Dorjee,
sustained a head injury and was taken in critical condition to Saint Francis
Hospital in Evanston.
Dorjee was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m..
The other man, who was 46, broke his leg, Greer said. He was taken to Saint
Francis, where his condition had stabilized.
The vehicle involved is described as a dark blue Volkswagen Beetle with the
Illinois license plate P121817. Police are urging anyone with information to
contact the Major Accident Investigation Unit at 312-745-4521.
