A Chicago high school student was shot and killed during an attempted robbery
this afternoon outside the school in the Southeast Side’s Jeffrey Manor
neighborhood.
The 18-year-old man, a senior at Banner Academy South High School, was
leaving the school in the 2300 block of East 99th Street about 3:40 p.m. when he
was approached by five would-be robbers.
The victim fought back when one assailant rifled through his pockets and was
shot in the chest. He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ
Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Police were talking to two persons of interest.
The victim was identified as Terrance Wright, of the 5000 block of South
Carpenter Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The
