Officers shot and wounded a robbery suspect just before 9:30 p.m. near the
intersection of Lotus and Bloomingdale avenues in the North Austin neighborhood.
Grand Central District officers responding to a robbery call spotted a
suspect matching the robber's description and ordered the man to stop.
When the suspect refused to stop and officers ordered him to stop a second
time, the man "then stated he was going to attack the officers as he moved
toward his waistband and produced an object,".
Police said the officers, fearing for their safety, fired shots and struck
the man, who was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
