Julian Williams, of the 6900 block of South Ada Street was charged with first-degree murder and is expected to be in bond court on Monday
The victim was identified as Kenneth Alexander, 52, of Park Forest.
Alexander was found stabbed to death in the bedroom of a Marquette Park home.
No one else was home when the man was found about 11:15 p.m. Thursday. police said the stabbing may have resulted from some type of domestic dispute between Alexander and the grandson of his girlfriend.
The girlfriend was out of town at the time of the dispute and was returning home early Friday morning
