Charges have been filed against a Des Plaines man who shot and critically
wounded a man in front of Chicago police.
Harrison District officers chased down and arrested Jeffrey Grafton, 31,
after the shooting Monday night. Grafton, of the 9900 block of Holy Lane in Des
Plaines, was charged with aggravated battery.
As officers watched, Grafton shot the 33-year-old man several
times in the 4300 block of West Madison Street in the West Garfield Park
neighborhood at about 10:20 p.m. Monday.
The victim was hit in the back
and abdomen, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
Grafton has past convictions for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and
armed robbery, according to court records. He also has pending criminal cases
for felony possession and use of a firearm and manufacturing the drug Ecstasy
