A carjacker ordered a man and a woman to lie on the ground, then shot the man
before escaping in the victim's car in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on
the West Side.
The 39-year-old victim was recovering at a hospital following the attack in
the 3500 block of West Chicago Avenue just before 1 a.m.. Police
were trying to locate the car, a green 1992 Audi sedan, with a license plate
beginning with P 33.
The victim and a woman were leaving a residence and walking to a car in a
back lot when two men -- one armed with a handgun -- approached and demanded the
man's car keys.
The men then ordered the couple to lie on the ground. After the couple
complied, one of the robbers shot the man in the right leg.
The two men then got into the victim's green 1992 Audi and fled the scene.
The woman wasn't hurt.
The wounded man was taken to John H.
Stroger Jr. Hospital, where he was expected to recover
