3 satan worshiping stooges charged in 2010 South Side stabbing death

Three men charged with murder in the 2010 stabbing death of a man in the McKinley Park neighborhood bragged about attacking the man and a friend of his because they thought the pair were rival gang members.
The bragging helped lead police to Pablo Colon, 22, Daniel Guerrero, 24, and Marco Ramirez, 27, all of Chicago, who now face charges of murder and aggravated battery in the slaying of Alan Oliva, 27, of Oak Lawn, on May 30, 2010.
Oliva was walking with a friend about 1 a.m. that day in the 3200 block of South Ashland when three men came up to him and attacked him “without provocation,”.
Oliva was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr., Hospital, where it was found he had been stabbed twice, and he died there, police said. He died from multiple stab wounds, the medical examiner’s office found following an autopsy.
Colon, of the 4700 block of South Latrobe Avenue, Guerrero, of the 3300 block of South Ashland Avenue, and Ramirez, of the 4100 block of South Artesian Avenue, were ordered held without bail following a hearing before Cook County Criminal Court Judge Donald Panarese.
Oliva and his friend, 20, were walking in the 3300 block of Ashland Avenue, after leaving a friend’s home in the area, when Colon, Guerrero, Ramirez and other members of the Satan Disciples street gang, came out from behind a building. The gang members had seen that Oliva or his friend was wearing a red shirt, thought they were members of a rival gang, and had lain in wait for them.
Guerrero, who was armed with an aluminum baseball bat, went up to Oliva’s friend and hit him with the bat, kniocking him to the ground and beating him. Ramirez and Colon began attacking Oliva, and the younger victim was able to escape and run back to the home he and Oliva had been visiting and call 911 from there.
Police arrived on scene and found Oliva had been beaten and stabbed, and his cell phone taken. He was taken to Stroger, where he died.
After the attack, police were able to get a physical description of the attackers from the other victim, and in October 2010, identified Guerrero as a possible suspect.
They also determined that Ramirez had had Oliva’s cell phone in his possession for a time after the attack, but had buried it in a park near his house to try to hide the theft.
Police were able to track down that Ramirez, Guerrero and Colon had all told other people about beating up rival gang members, and they were identified in photo and in-person lineups. On Sept. 11, they were arrested, and Ramirez admitted to stabbing Oliva, while Colon admitted to taking part in the beating.
