A 79-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing the street near her home
in the Little Village neighborhood.
Maria Banuelos
was hit by a car that turned left onto 26th Street from Avers Avenue about 4
p.m. Tuesday.
Banuelos was taken to Mount
Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver was cited with striking a pedestrian in the
roadway.
Banuelos lived near the accident scene, in the 2500 block of South Avers
Avenue
