Chicago police wounded a shooting suspect this morning following a chase on the
city's Southeast Side.
The incident began with officers
witnessing an armed man firing shots in the 11000 block of South Avenue M just
after 2 a.m..
The gunman fled the scene in a
vehicle with officers in pursuit. During the chase, the suspect's vehicle struck
a squad car assisting in the pursuit.
At some point during
the pursuit, the gunman got out of his vehicle and was shot in the leg by an
officer. He was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital for treatment.
No officers were reported injured.
