A man already in Cook County Jail on charges he shot someone last year has been
charged with murder in the 2010 slayings of two men at an East Garfield Park
grocery store.
Quinton Brown, 26, is charged with the murders of Jeffery Pinkerton and
Patrick Evans, both 28, on June 8, 2010, at the M and K Grocery in the 3600
block of West Ohio Street.
That evening, a man wearing a ski mask and dressed in all black walked into
the grocery store armed with a semi-automatic rifle, authorities said at the
time. The man shot and killed Pinkerton and Evans, then fled through an alley.
Brown, who was jailed in June in a 2011 attempted murder case in which he is
awaiting trial, was expected to appear in bond court today, but instead will be
in court on Thursday. Brown has several previous felony
criminal convictions dating back to a 2003 drug case, including weapon and drug
charges, court records show.
