A father of four was killed just after midnight in the 7500 block of South Kingston Avenue in the South
Shore neighborhood, and it appeared to be a case of an innocent victim caught in
the line of fire.
Two men, ages 39 and 59, were talking on the sidewalk when a gunman standing
at the corner of 76th Street and Kingston Avenue fired a handgun in their
direction, striking both.
The younger man, L.C. Robinson
III, was hit in the face and taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center,
where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The second man was driven to South
Shore Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.
