Three similar robberies within two days on two neighboring South Side blocks
prompted Chicago Police to issue a community alert today.
The strong-arm
robberies took place Aug. 10 at 2:54 a.m. on the 6700 block of South Cornell
Avenue, the same day at 4 p.m. on the 6700 block of South Stony Island Avenue,
and Aug. 12 at about 5:20 p.m., again on the 6700 block of South Cornell Avenue.
In each case the robber or robbers approached
victims walking on the street, pushed them and took property by force.
In one case a single male robber was involved, while in the other
two attacks more than one male robber was involved. The
descriptions of the attackers varied, but one robber was described as about
20-24, 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds.
