Bail was denied Saturday for a 25-year-old Chicago man accused of fatally
shooting a teenager early Thurday morning in the North Austin neighborhood.
Dewayne J. Ford, of the 4800 block of West Wabansia Avenue, has been charged
with first-degree murder after he allegedly shot Adeniyi Adesida, 18, three
times. Adesida later died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Early Thursday morning, Ford drove around the 4800 block of West Saint Paul
Avenue on the West Side several times before yelling "I got something for y'all,
I'll be back" to a group of people hanging out on a porch.
"animosity" existed between Ford and at least one person in the
group over a mutual girlfriend.
Ford drove back to his home a short distance away, grabbed a firearm and
returned with the weapon in his shorts, prosecutors said. A few minutes later,
he shot Adesida, who was sitting on a porch with a few others.
Ford, who is unemployed, was seen running from the scene with the gun in his
hand by at least one witness. He was arrested at his
apartment two hours later after he was identified through photos and a physical
lineup by several witnesses
