Chicago Police Marine Unit officers pulled a man's body from the the North
Branch of the Chicago River at North Avenue this morning
The body was brought out of the river by officers on the Police Marine Unit's
Boat M5 after police were called about 8:15 a.m.. The body was
fully clothed.
The man was later identified as Filipe Jara Valdez, 46, of the 3700 block of
West Palmer in the Logan Square neighborhood.
Police said there were no outward signs of violence on the man's body.
Detectives were conducting a death investigation, pending the results of an
autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police were called to the river after someone called 911 to say that it
looked like a body was in the water at the location
