A man died this morning after being critically injured when the vehicle he was
driving a tree, trapping him inside the car Monday night in the Marquette Park
neighborhood.
The victim, Walid Abuasba, died following the crash in the 2500 block of West
Columbus Avenue, near the intersection of 74th Street and Western Avenue. The wreck occurred at 8:30 p.m..
Abuasba was driving the car when he lost control and his car hit a tree. No one else was in the car.
Abuasba, 49, of the 5700 block of Ridgemont Lane in Chicago Ridge, was
declared dead at 6:01 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
The car was sliced in half by the
impact of the crash.
The victim was cut out of the car and taken to Christ Medical Center in
critical condtion
