A Chicago man has been ordered held without bond, accused of a 31-year-old man
early Saturday in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered Christopher Boyd held without bond during a
mid-day bond hearing.
Boyd, 30, of the 6400 block of South Wood Street, was charged with aggravated
battery. Boyd, who was also wanted on an outstanding warrant, was expected
to appear in bond court today.
The Englewood District Mission Team, along with the support of neighbors who
assisted, helped bring Boyd into custody.
The 31-year-old male victim's girlfriend had left her home and saw Boyd
holding a gun to her boyfriend's head at 2:52 a.m. Saturday in the 6300 block of
South Wolcott Avenue.
The woman pleaded with Boyd not to shoot. Boyd briefly took the gun away from
her boyfriend's head and he started to run into the home. But Boyd shot him
multiple times in the back before fleeing.
The victim was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in
critical condition but he is expected to survive.
A concerned citizen contacted police later that day, telling officers Boyd
was hiding in a residence on the same block where the shooting happened.
Officers spoke with people living there who allowed officers to search the home.
During the search, police could hear movement above them in the attic and
observed paint chips falling from the ceiling. Boyd was found lying down on the
floor of the attic.
Boyd was identified after police interviewed the girlfriend
