Two girls, ages 12 and 14, were wounded tonight, one seriously, in a shooting
near Cooper Park on the Far South Side in the city's West Pullman neighborhood.
The shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. on the 1300 block of West
117th Street.
Preliminary reports said the girls were inside
the park when shots rang out and they were struck. The girls ran to a near
recreational center where paramedics were called.
The
12-year-old girl suffered wounds to her abdomen and was taken in
serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
The 14-year-old girl
suffered a wound to her leg and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital
