A group of two or three suspects is wanted in a series of recent robberies
usually targeting cell phone stores on the Northwest Side, often hitting two
locations within minutes.
The seven robberies, one of
which took place at a Game Stop store, have happened in the late afternoon when
the two or three suspects enter the business, show a weapon and demand money
from the registers.
In six of the attacks, two robberies took place
within minutes on three separate days. In one case two tablet computers also
were stolen.
Police said
the suspects are wanted in the following robberies:
--On May 16 in the 5300
block of West Division Street at 4:30 p.m.
--On May 16 in the 1500 block of
North Cicero Avenue at 5:10 p.m.
--On May 29 in the 4400 block of North
Pulaski Road at 4:25 p.m.
--On May 29 in the 3600 block of West Irving
Park Road at 4:35 p.m.
--On June 1 in the 5300 block of West Diversey
Avenue at 3:30 p.m.
--On June 1 in the 2800 block of North Laramie Avenue at
4:00 p.m.
--On June 2 in the 3955 block of West Belmont Avenue at 4:30
p.m.
The alert gives general descriptions of the two or three suspects
in the robberies, saying they are black men ranging in age from 18 to 30,
5-foot-6 to 6-foot-2, and 150 to 200 pounds.
Hair descriptions for the
suspects have included an "afro" or "corn row" style, while one offender may
have an impairment on his lip.
Various clothing descriptions
have been given during different robberies, with witnesses saying robbers wore a
black hooded sweatshirt with a white and orange insignia, a dark blue hooded
sweatshirt with "Conference Champs" on the back, a black hooded sweatshirt with
an "L" on the back or a gray hooded sweatshirt.
The robbers have worn
different color baseball caps and pants or shorts, and have been armed with a
black or silver handgun and a brown shotgun.
Police said the robbers
might have used a grey or silver Nissan Versa.
