Police fire at man with AK-47 in Burnside

At about 10 a.m., a gunman pointed what was believed to be an AK-47 assault-style rifle at an officer in the 9300 block of South Lyon Avenue in the Burnside neighborhood.
The officer opened fire at the gunman, who ran away.
Police have learned the gunman ran into a nearby home and told its occupant that he was bleeding from the hand and may have been shot.
As of late this afternoon, police were searching the nearby hospitals for the gunman.
Police could not say for certain whether the gunman was actually wounded.
