A University of Illinois at Chicago student was knocked unconscious during a robbery near the campus on the Near West Side.
The student was walking in the 400 block of South Green Street around 9 p.m. Wednesday when he was approached from behind by someone who placed an object to the back of the student's head and demanded money.
The student gave the robber his wallet and then was struck on the back of his head and lost consciousness.
The student was taken to Rush University Medical Center, where he was treated for a head injury.
