About 9 p.m. the female victim was walking home from the train station when a group of six males and a female approached her from behind in the 1300 block of West Newport Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood.
One of them grabbed her mouth and held it shut while prying her cell phone from her hand, police said. The group fled westbound on Newport. The victim, whose age was not available, walked home and called police.
She was not injured
