A 26-year-old man died eight days after he and another man were shot in the
in the Brighton Park neighborhood.
The shooting occurred on April 21 at 1:21 p.m. as John Cepeda, of the 2300
block of West 35th Place, was sitting in a van with another man.
The men were sitting in a minivan on the 2400 block of West 34th Place when a
man came up to them and began shooting.
Cepeda was pronounced dead Sunday at 8:12 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital..
An autopsy conducted today determined that Cepeda died from bronchopneumonia
and a gunshot wound to the head. The
other man was struck in the leg
