Man charged in hit-and-run accident in Brighton Park

A 31-year-old Chicago man was charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a 49-year-old woman dead in the Brighton Park neighborhood Saturday evening.
Juan C. Cortez, of the 2200 block of West 50th Place was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury and the death of a pedestrian in the roadway. He was arrested on a warrant.
Cortez was the driver of a vehicle that struck Cynthia Hoff at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday on the 4200 block of South Western Boulevard. Hoff lived less than a mile away, on the 4300 block of South Honore Street. She was pronounced dead at Holy Cross Hospital at midnight.
