A 9-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were both wounded late this afternoon in a shooting on the South Side in the city's Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
Preliminary reports stated the boy and the man were shot about 5 p.m. on the 6100 block of South Maplewood Street.The boy was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He suffered a wound to his leg. The man was taken to the same hospital where he was listed as in good condition
The shooter fled east toward Western on 61st Street after shooting from near the corner of 61st & Maplewood.
Police said the 18-year-old was the intended target and doesn't appear to be related to the child, described by police as an innocent bystander
