Prosecutors say an accused Chicago drug dealer flung a kilogram of heroin out a New York City apartment window as police closed in on a two-state drug trafficking scheme.
Rudy Cabrera was being held without bail after pleading not guilty Wednesday in a Manhattan court.
Three other suspects were due in court later.
The New York City special narcotics prosecutor's office says two of the men drove from New York to Chicago in March to arrange a drug shipment.
Prosecutors say those two, Cabrera and an associate from New Jersey tried to ditch the drugs during the March 20 Harlem police raid.
Prosecutors say police saw Cabrera toss the heroin package out the 13th-floor window. Prosecutors say there were indications cocaine was flushed down a toilet and sink.
