One person died in a single-car crash on outbound Interstate 94 near 47th
Street about 11:05 p.m., according to Illinois State Police.
Officers in the area are looking for a man who ran from the scene -- police
said he may have been the driver.
The dead person was a passenger in the car.
Police said the car was speeding when, for an unknown reason, it hit the
outside wall of the local lanes, crossed traffic, climbed the embankment at the
47th Street exit, hit a traffic control box and came to rest next to a
bridge.
Another person was taken from the scene to John
H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook Countyin serious-to-critical condition.
