A man in his 30s was wounded by gunfire from a Chicago police officer today.
The shooting took place at 12:49 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Stewart Street.
Preliminary reports said the man was shot in his leg and taken to an area hospital. The man's condition had been stabilized

Gresham District tactical officers attempted to pull over a vehicle on the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue, but the vehicle did not stop.
Officers followed the vehicle for a short distance and the vehicle struck a tree, according to the statement.
Three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody, but the driver fled on foot.
Officers chased him to the 8200 block of South Stewart Avenue where they said he made a "furtive movement." An officer who believed the man was armed and reaching for a weapon was in fear for his life and fired his gun, striking the man
