Detectives warn of attacks on teens on Southwest Side

Police are warning residents of the Deering District about recent attacks on teenage boys by members of a graffiti gang in the McKinley Park neighborhood.
A group of young men or boys who apparently are part of the “Three Five” graffiti gang that operates in the area between Ashland and Damen avenues, south of 35th Street have been attacking young men since mid-February. The attacks have taken place on Leavitt and Seeley Avenues in the between 33 rd Street and 35 th Street.
The group of boys or men have gotten out of cars, ask teens if they are “Three Five” and beat the victims with pipes and knives, as well robbed some of the victims.
The attacks include on Feb. 20 about 6:35 p.m. on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of South Leavitt Avenue, in which a victim was attacked with a knife and possibly other weapons, and one Feb, 26 about 8:30 p.m. in an alley in the 3300 block of South Seeley Avenue. Other attacks have taken place more recently.
Police said the attackers are believed to be between about 17 and 22 years old, but did not give detailed descriptions of any of them. They have been seen using a black Honda Element with grey bumpers, a black sedan with a malfunctioning front headlight, with a possible partial Illinois license plate of N36, and a red Honda
