Chicago Police officer shot on Far South Side

A Chicago police officer who was shot late this afternoon in the Fernwood neighborhood on the city's Far South Side is recovering and his wounds do not appear to be life-threatening.
The shooting happened at 4:50 p.m. in the 100 block of West 103rd Place.
Gunfire struck the officer's vest and arm.
Paramedics took the officer to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was "stable,''. A fire department spokesman said the officer's wounds do not appear to be life-threatening.
At least one person was in custody and two guns were recovered.
Officers responded to a 911 call for gang-related activity at a home in the 100 block of West 103rd Place.
They said four officers responded to the home, two in the front and two in the back.
When two of the officers went to the rear, a person opened fire on them from the back porch.
One of the officers was shot in his vest, police said, and gunfire apparently ricocheted from his star and struck him in the arm.

UPDATE:
Four officers responded to a 911 call of shots fired at the home, with two going to the front and two moving down the gangway to the back.
When two of the officers went to the rear, through a gangway a  opened a window and opened fire on them.
Police fired back at the shooter, but he wasn't hit.
The wounded officer is a member of a Calumet District tactical team, and a seven-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department.
Police were talking to a person believed to be the shooter who wounded the officer, and also were talking to two other people, according to a law enforcement source. Two guns, a rifle and a revolver, were found at the scene

UPDATE:
A 35-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were charged today with the Friday afternoon shooting of a Chicago police officer on the Far South Side.
Andre Miles, 35, of the 10500 block of South Maryland Avenue was charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery

The 16-year-old boy was charged with aggravated battery as a juvenile
