UIC police warn of off-campus strong-arm robbery

University of Illinois at Chicago officials have issued a crime alert warning students of a Tuesday strong-armed robbery where a student was knocked to the ground and robbed of her purse
Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, a female student was on the 1400 block of West Lexington Street when a man jumped out of a white SUV and demanded her purse, officials said.
He grabbed her purse and knocked her to the ground. The robber then fled northbound on Loomis Street in the SUV, police said. The student was not injured during the robbery.
UIC police described the robber as a black man about 18 to 23, 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black skull cap.
