Pedestrian, 72, struck in hit-and-run dies

A motorist who was not authorized to drive is behind bars following a hit-and-run crash earlier this month on the South Side that claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman who died early today.
Juanita Myles, of the 900 block of West 63rd Street, was pronounced dead at 3:01 a.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
On Jan. 17, Myles was a pedestrian who was walking in the 6300 block of South Carpenter Street when a vehicle struck her and fled the scene about 4:30 p.m..
The motorist, Kimberly Owens, 26, of the 6300 block of South May Street, was initially charged with one count of felony failure to report an accident and one misdemeanor count of driving on a revoked license,.
Owens was arrested and booked into Cook County Jail on Jan. 25, after a judge set her bail at $200,000
