“Somebody just ran up to him and shot him in the leg twice,’’ said the Citgo manger.
The manager said he was working inside the station’s minimart at 19th Street and Pulaski Road and had just accepted $20 from a driver when he heard gunfire and looked outside and realized the customer had filled up an older model van and gotten shot.
The victim then ran away, according to the staffer.
Paramedics were called to Cullerton and Pulaski at 6:52 p.m. and took the victim to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
The manager said when he examined video surveillance later, he saw the shooter was wearing a gray hoodie and also fled on foot.
