A 17-year-old boy was found dead in an alley after being shot in the head and torso Thursday night in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.
Police found him an alley the 6200 block of South Eberhart Avenue at about 10 p.m., according to a Chicago Police release.
Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said a man walking his dog found the boy and called police.
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified him Carlton Archer, of the 6500 block of South Rhodes Avenue.

I am still in disbelief. This is so unfair. I haven't stopped crying since I got the news of his death. There's no reason good enough to kill somebody. I really hope whoever did this gets what they deserve. He was only a kid. He was somebodies son, brother, cousin and friend. It's sad to think that there are people out there who do things like this. If they only thought twice about how it much it hurts everybody else.

I cannot believe it either and I have done my share of crying too. I was his Spanish I and II teacher at Hyde Park Academy. Towards the end of the school year last year was when I really tried to reach out to him. To find him in alley as they did makes it seem as if he was a bag of garbage, but he was a human being and someone created in the image of Almighty God. May God carry him to Heaven and let his memory be eternal! Amen.
