Three male teens have been charged in the beating death of a 41-year-old man at a bus stop earlier this week.
Darnell Chambers was waiting at the bus stop at 79th Street and Greenwood Avenue early Sunday morning when one of the teens asked another person with him at the bus stop if he could use his phone.
The man with Chambers refused, and one of the teens took a swing at him, police said. The man then ran to call police and as he did so saw "multiple offenders" start beating Chambers.
Chambers was pronounced dead on the scene at about 3:25 a.m. Sunday. The victim's name was first reported as Darius Link by the Cook County medical examiner's office but it's unclear why.
Chambers lived in the 7000 block of South Clyde Avenue.
Donnte Kindle, 17, of the 2800 block of east 78th Street, and Jabril Garner, 18, of the 1300 block of East 73rd Street, were both charged with first-degree murder.
Antoine Ward, 18, of the 14200 block of South Cottage Grove in Dolton, was charged with first-degree murder, robbery and felony murder.
