3 hospitalized, one 'extremely critical', after shooting on South Side

A 20-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were hospitalized after being shot this evening at a housing complex on the South Side.
The older victim was shot in the head and taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in “extremely critical condition,”.
Authorities initially believed the victim to be 17.
The second person, a 15-year-old boy was also shot in the head but was alert and taken to Comer Childrens Hospital at the University of Chicago.
One of the people shot was found in a lobby of the Parkway Gardens complex at 64th Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. and the second person was found in a parkway area separating the buildings.
Authorities said the 20-year-old victim was walking with his girlfriend near 63rd Street and King Drive when two suspects wearing dark clothing approached and shot the man.
Shortly thereafter, the suspects went further down the block and shot the 15-year-old boy.
In addition to the two people shot, a man was hospitalized after suffering an asthma attack.
Police said the shooting occurred at 7:55 p.m. and police were searching for two men in dark clothing who fled the shooting.
After the shooting occurred, crowds of people flooded the area outside the buildings and caused "gridlock" for the ambulances which were responding to the shooting.
Police were called in to disperse the crowd after people were reportedly trying to climb on to an ambulance.
UPDATE: A 20-year-old man died. The dead man, Edward Riley, of the 5300 block of South Wallace Street, died at Stroger Hospital at 10:17 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
