Public and police response to a strongarm robbery on a CTA Brown Line train this morning resulted in an arrest of one of the two suspects, police said.
A man in his 20s on the train had been jumped by two males in an attempt to take his iPad. The victim struggled with the two attackers, a battle that moved onto the platform. During the course of the struggle, the attackers ran off with the iPad with some witnesses in pursuit.
Police were called, witnesses described the attackers, and that information went out over police radi. One responding police unit saw someone matching a description and arrested a 15-year-old male at 4219 North Ravenswood Ave., about a half-mile away. When taken back to the platform, where he was positively identified by both the victim and witnesses.
The victim was punched in the face during the attack and suffered visible bruising and swelling. The iPad was not recovered, police said.
The second attacker remains at large, police said. Police were able to provide only a vague decription.
