An 18-year-old man was shot in what police suspect may have been a botched robbery attempt in the city's South Shore neighborhood this morning.
The shooting happened just before 9:20 p.m. Sunday in the 6800 block of South Cornell Avenue.
The victim and another man were walking out to a parked car, when they were approached by three men who told them not to leave the scene.
The victim, who was behind the wheel, drove off prompting one of the men to pull a handgun and open fire, striking the driver in the arm. No one else was injured.
The victim called authorities and stopped for an ambulance several blocks away. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center, where he was treated for his non serious wound.
