A Wisconsin man offered to pay police officers $100,000 after they stopped his SUV on the South Side and found a loaded handgun, a bundle of cash and a stash of marijuana.
Christopher Parker, 24, of Eau Claire, Wis. was pulled over in the 7800 block of South Lowe Ave. around 1 a.m. Wednesday when officers spotted him driving without headlights.
The officers asked Parker to get out of his Ford Explorer when he couldn't produce a driver's license. Lying on the driver's seat was a loaded .380-caliber handgun in a holster.
The officers also found a loaded ammunition clip, more than $3,000 in cash, marijuana and pipes and alcohol, police said.
As he was being taken into custody, Parker promised he would pay the officers $100,000 if they would let him go. He told them he was carrying the gun for protection.
Parker was charged with bribing an officer, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and various traffic offenses.
